Natural Skin Care Tips 2019 (With Face Mask Recipes)

Taking Care Of Your Skin during Winter.

The Natural Way!

Winter is on our doorstep, and everyone is preparing by getting their indoor heaters ready, buying enormous quantities of hot chocolate or milo to sustain one through an unusually cold evening and knitting gloves and socks for those freezing fingers and toes.

When bracing oneself for the winter, why not prepare for the wintery onslaught on your skin? Winter is not only a dry season for plants, but also for our skin.

Follow our skin-care tips that act like a warm, cozy jacket during an icy, wintery night.

Too Lazy to do so right? Well, why not visit a Spa to do this for you instead.

There are some great Spa Packages that can take care of your skin throughout the whole winter.

We are going to categorize the steps into two groups: one category is what you can do to assist in having healthy skin and the other is what remedies you can use during winter to have a smooth and moisturized skin.  Combine the two categories, and you have a win-win situation.

healthy and rejuvenated skin.

The Natural Way or The Un-Natural Way?

Natural Skin Care Products

Choose your skincare products wisely

When it comes to choosing skin products, it is best to take your time and read everything about a particular product.  Oily skin, dry skin, oily T-zone?  When in doubt, feel free to ask.  It is more important to have the correct facial scrub and moisturizer than having all the extras such as toner.

Do Some Proper washing up!

Although a deep, steaming bath with bubbles and candles are tempting, it is better if you wash your face with lukewarm water.  By doing this, you avoid losing important natural oils.  Remember!  The longer your glorious relaxingly hot shower or bath, the dryer your skin becomes.  After patting your skin dry (that’s right, pat and not rub) it is imperative that you immediately massage body lotion into your skin.  Don’t exfoliate too frequently, but it does help as it removes the dirt barrier and increases the absorption of the facial products.

Hydration the healthy way

As we said before, everybody is stocking up on hot chocolate and milo.  Your skin is begging for its milo or hot chocolate to hydrate it – warm water and lemon will do the trick.

Foods to make your skin glow

Certain foods contain high water volumes, and they help to hydrate you from the inside.  Eat fruits like watermelons, kiwi’s, apples and oranges and vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumber, and carrots.  Vitamin C is essential – make sure you get enough of it.

Winter weakness?

Do not be fooled into thinking that the winter sun is not as harsh as the summer sun.  Remember to apply sunscreen when going outside during winter.

The eye can see a difference

The lack of sweat and oil glands cause the skin around your eyes to dehydrate and, therefore, you look older than what you are (terrifying, I know!).  Invest in a good eye cream and the skin around your eyes will be happy.

Sunglasses don’t just look cool, but they play a significant role.  They prevent you from squinting and then causing “crows-feet” around your eyes.  So, next time you go out, grab those shades.

DIY Skin Masks

Search for skin masks that suit your skin type.  Once you have selected the most suitable one, start slicing some cucumber to put over your eyes after you have applied the mask. The cucumber contains ascorbic and Caffeic Acids that creates an equilibrium by bringing down the water retention in your eyes. It reduces swelling and puffiness around your eyes.

Get your Mask On!

Here are some do-it-yourself facial mask recipes:

Avo and honey face mask

Honey and Avo Face Mask

Ingredients Needed:

  • Avocado

  • Honey

  • Cucumber

Mash half an avocado and mix two tablespoons of honey.  Apply the paste on your neck and face, cover your eyes with those cucumber slices and wait for 10-15 minutes for the mask to dry.  Rinse it off afterward.  This recipe helps to cure dry skin.

Cleopatra’s mask

Ingredients Needed:

  • Almond Powder

  • Raw Milk

Cleopatra did not take a bath in milk for no reason.  Here is another recipe for dry skin and helps with the smoothness.  Mix one tablespoon of almond powder and two tablespoons of raw milk until a paste has formed.  Apply the mixture to your face and wait for 10 minutes.  Gently massage your face while rinsing it off with water.

(VERY IMPORTANT: please do not use Cleopatra’s recipe if you are allergic to almonds and milk)

Sweet and sour solution

Ingredients Needed:

  • Lemon

  • Honey

  • Cotton Pad

Squeeze out the juice of half a lemon and then mix the juice well with two tablespoons of honey.  Use cotton wool to apply the solution to your skin.  Rinse it off after 10 minutes.  It helps itchy and irritated winter’s skin.

Winter Sun

Ingredients Needed:

  • Sunflower Oil

Use Sunflower oil as a hydrating moisturizer.  Take a few drops of sunflower oil and apply it to your face.  Gently massage the oil into your skin.  Allow your skin to absorb the oil naturally, and it is not necessary to wash it off.

Strawberries and cream

Ingredients Needed:

  • Strawberries

  • Honey

  • Cream

A refreshing mask consisting of strawberries, honey and cream relieves dry skin and acts as a natural exfoliator.

Mash 2-3 strawberries and mix in one tablespoon of honey along with one tablespoon of fresh cream.  Avoid your eyes and lips when applying the mixture evenly.  Leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water.  After the first rinse, rinse your face again, but with cold water to close your skin’s pores.

Banana benefits

Ingredients Needed:

  • Banana

Add one tablespoon to half a mashed banana.  Ensure that you have mashed the banana in such a way that no lumps exist or if there are, make sure they are not big lumps.  Apply the banana paste to your skin and wait for 10-20 minutes.  Rinse off the banana mask with water.

Banana helps with skin hydration and has anti-aging benefits.

Fantastic fruits

Ingredients Needed:

  • Papaya

  • Banana

  • Honey

For this mask, you will need a piece of papaya (ripe), one banana and two tablespoons of honey.  First, mix the papaya and banana until there are no lumps.  After that, mix the honey along with it.  You can apply the mixture to your face or any other dry patches.  You can rinse it off after 20 minutes.

Never be afraid to experiment with different fruits and vegetables to create the perfect facial mask for you!  You can never go wrong with natural moisturizing ingredients such as banana, avocados, honey, almond oil, olive oil, and aloe.  After mixing your preferences, apply it to your skin and leave it for between 10-30 minutes.  After that, make sure that you rinse off the mask properly with water.

(Although these fruits and other ingredients are helpful, please ensure that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients before using it.)

All of this may seem like a lot of tips to remember, and the DIY recipes may even be tempting to eat!  It may be easier to visit your local spa where they can answer any possible questions that you may have.

Achieving healthy and rejuvenated skin can be hard all you need is the right treatments.
